Review of Gods of Egypt (2016) by Zac K — 22 Jul 2016

I'm glad I ignored the 16% rating that this film had and decided to watch it anyway. This isn't a 16% movie. I enjoy mythology, and I've enjoyed all the Greek mythology movies that have been made over the years. But I don't recall a movie about Egyptian mythology. This made the movie fresh and entertaining.

The special effects are imaginative and creative. The costumes are inspired. The plot line--and there is a plot, unlike most movies with this low a ranking--moves things along nicely. The acting is good enough, and the ending is satisfying. There is character development and there are moments of cleverness. All in all, nicely done.

The take away: If you're looking for some escapism and you like action, adventure, and mythology, ignore the rankings and give this one a shot!
