Review of Gods of Egypt (2016) by Jesse O — 08 Dec 2016
Oh boy, is this a howler. This wannabe sword-and-sandal epic has it all: hammy acting, chintzy visual effects, cheap-looking costumes, awful dialogue, an Oscar winner slumming it for a couple scenes (hello Geoffrey Rush!), and just enough oddball flourishes (flying beetles pulling a chariot through the air) to keep things from getting too serious.
A major letdown from director Alex Proyas (The Crow, Dark City).
