Review of Gods of Egypt (2016) by Marshall W — 08 Sep 2016
Sure, the cgi is pretty bad and it is incredibly cheesy, but this feels right at home like most things you might find late night on the SyFy channel. It's a fantasy version of historical time period with magic and all that, so the main gods are white instead of having a darker skin tone, doesn't really play into the movie at all.
Horus is about to be crowned the new king of Egypt but his uncle crashes the party and kills his father before he can be crowned and steals Horus' eyes which provide him excellent aim. He is banished and everyone is put to work as slaves. One breaks free and steals his eye back and uses it to win back the kingdom. Pretty standard movie. It's no where near as bad as people make it out to be. It's a decent watch. If I have some complaints, it's a little too long and it feels like it takes itself a little too seriously. Otherwise, it's a fun distraction for a lazy afternoon.
