Review of God's Not Dead: A Light in Darkness (2018) by Cheezers — 07 Apr 2018
God's Not Dead: A Light in Darkness manages to be significantly better than the first two, but still falls short. Film creates a great medium for spreading ideas and messages. Unlike the first two, this film does this well.
A message done right in a movie shows both sides of an argument through it's characters. This is what makes a film not come across as a lecture but an actual story with a morale to be had. God's Not Dead: A Light in Darkness actually does this, which is a huge improvement from the first two.
Unfortunately, God's Not Dead: A Light in Darkness comes across as a lecture anyways. The biggest issue is the film is very boring. The plot has no real depth to it. None of the characters felt important besides the protagonist and his lawyer.
There was no clear antagonist to the story. Most of the film is about property court, it doesn't even sound like a fun movie on paper. The only moments of this film that were enjoyable were the lines that were supposed to make us laugh, and I laughed, but more out of how silly the joke was.
God's Not Dead: A Light in Darkness is an alright film to watch with your church, but other than that it's probably not worth seeing. There are much better christian movies out there.
