Review of God's Not Dead (2014) by Rob W — 16 Aug 2014
So, I saw this because my mother recommended it and because it starred Hercules (Kevin Sorbo). First, what a horrible ending. Seriously. PREACHY! It had some touching moments, but overall there was a lot of anti-atheist sentiment bordering on hate.
And I say that as someone who is not open-minded at all towards atheists. This movie was intolerant and filled with an agenda to paint atheists as "bad" and "heartless" people. The film was heavily based on stereotypes about other ethnicities and religions.
Apparently all Chinese people are paranoid atheists and all Muslim fathers in America slap their daughters who want to be Christian and then kick them out of the home. Sure, that may happen in reality, but still.
Apparently something tragic must have happened in atheists' lives to make them atheists. Apparently only death changes an atheists views and makes him or her "believe" again. Apparently atheists are angry and manhandle their students.
There were so many WTF moments like this. I was expecting a "Christian film" but one that spends more time debating the issue, and not one ridiculing people who disagree. This was a film filled with soooo many over-exaggerations and over-dramatizations.
Kevin Sorbo did a great job though in his acting.
