Review of God's Not Dead (2014) by Stanley C — 29 Sep 2017
Personally as an atheist, I despise this evangelical right-wing Christian propaganda. How can the makers of this movie not understand that religion is a seriously personal thing and that it's wrong and bigoted to force everyone in the country to accept the same religion? I mean this movie says that it's wrong to criticize Christianity but this movie still rants poorly about atheism to no end.
Christians and atheists arguing with each other is pointless and hardly relevant to reality given that Christians outnumber atheists by a ratio of something like 200 to 3. And I don't really think Christians have gotten along with Catholics, Jews, Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses or Muslims very well either.
This movie stars and was completely made by white Christian people, to no surprise. Just go back and read what happened in European history between the 10th and 20th centuries, white Christian people pushing and pushing their beliefs down onto anyone who has different ideologies. The Protestant Reformation, Martin Luther and his 95 theses, the Pilgrims running away from home, Church of England, the Enlightenment, et cetera et cetera.
