This possibly ranks as one of top 3 Christian films I have seen in the last 35 years. I had a professor when I was earning my masters degree in History that could have easily served as the character study for Professor Radisson. It would be a mistake to think, however, that all college professors who are atheists act like he did in the film. Film critic Neil Carter faults God's Not Dead for portraying four different atheist characters as simple, uni-dimensional personalities caught up in themselves. Anyone watching this movie and thinking that it correctly portrays all atheists would be missing the point of the movie.

One aspect of the movie that shines is in the portrayal of academia as a place where students need to challenge professors (and can do so) when the professor is pushing a personal agenda. Unfortunately, most undergraduate students are unaware of this aspect of academia. On the other hand, the way it is presented is not wholly in favor of academia.

A second area where the movies shines is in the actual classroom debates that brought up academic challenges to both the believer and the atheist, portraying that highly respected academics can be found on both sides of the debate.
