This is quite possibly my favorite movie. Ian Mckellen is amazing as James Whale, the director of the original Frankenstien movie, in his declining years. Facinating look at "old hollywood" and genius use of symbolism, metaphor, and scene parallelism to Whale's masterpiece.
Keep in mind that Sir Ian is gay... James Whale is gay... so Sir Ian playing Whale is just a big gay party. Homophobes don't bother renting, you're too shallow to appreciate.
