Review of Gods and Monsters (1998) by Scott N — 12 Oct 2008
As close to cinematic perfection as you are likely to get, this insightful, moving film manages mix genres as effortlessly as it does humour and tragedy. A brilliant central performance from Ian McKellen as film director James Whale is backed by good ones from everyone else, while an evocative sense of period and sublime musical score add a rich icing to this many layered and perfectly balanced film.
A classic.
