A great, understated film with a stunning central performance from Ian McKellen as director James Whale. What is most surprising is the the great supporting work from Brendan Fraser as Whale's gardener and object of fascination.
At turns sad, droll and nostalgic this is a film which is rewarding should you be inclined to seek it out.
