I'm never disappointed by Ian McKellan, that's for sure. He was great in this. What I wasn't so sure about, though, was the choice to cast Brendan Fraser. I really felt that he didn't fit this role well.

He sexuality wasn't obvious enough for James Whale to have noticed him as he did, and I wasn't really able to take him seriously. Interesting film, though. I wish there was more information around on the true last years of James Whale.
