Review of Gods and Monsters (1998) by Tyra H — 30 Mar 2008
Being a HUGE fan of James Whale's body of work I had high expectations for this one. I'm sorry to say that, it spite of its critical acclaim, this just didn't work for me. Maybe it was the presence of Brendan Fraser (see MONKEYBONE and/or ENCINO MAN), or maybe it was the creepy sexual undertone of the film.
Most likely it was a little of both. Either way, it left me unsettled and disappointed.
