Review of Gods and Generals (2003) by Matthew S — 24 Jun 2009
I love this movie. It's slow, long, verbose, and historically accurate. It beats you over the head with patriotic and religious themes and doesn't have a bit of nihilism or post-modernism in it.
Plus it gives a balanced view of the civil war that is neither anti-war or anti-southern. Pretty much exactly the kind of movie I love and most people hate.
