Review of Gods and Generals (2003) by Ashley H — 09 Jul 2007
Stephen Lang did an outstanding job of portraying an amazing historical figure. Sure, there will be nitpickers who will find both historical faults and variances from the novel, but movie is well worth seeing and quite thought provoking.
A lot of care and preparation went into making this film. It should be used as a teaching tool. Seeing what happened on the screen, even with Hollywood license, can spark student interest into reading more first-person accounts of the reasons for the war, politics behind the war, and personal feelings about the war.
