Review of God Is the Bigger Elvis (2012) by Mike C — 04 Apr 2012
Fascinating. Really cool vintage footage of the monastery, including the induction ceremonies for many of the current residents. It's tough to get a grip on exactly why these women choose to live there.
They all try to explain it. I still don't really understand, but maybe that's the beauty of the film. Several of the nuns were quite "plugged in" to society before joining. They just dropped out of (what's considered to be) normal life and moved to a farm with a couple dozen other women.
Now they make honey and put on musicals with the local community. Life is weird.
