Review of God Help the Girl (2014) by Luke E — 07 Aug 2014
Stuart Murdoch's directorial debut almost feel far removed from reality, but what may look like a cardboard cut-out scenario turned out to be an incredibly heartwarming, entertaining and hilarious musical drama/romance.
Set within Glasgow and written with a very radical alternative style to modern attitudes on pop music; the film also touches upon mental illness and the redemptive healing of music. An incredibly big Kudos to Emily Browning and Hannah Murray whose performances were top notch and outstanding singing voices brought towards their characters.
I highly recommend this incredible feel-good film that I hope dearly gets a theatrical release within Australia.
