Review of God Bless America (2012) by Fabulous H — 15 Sep 2012
Smart and funny -- if rather on the nose -- take down of vapid celebrity culture and mindless, fear-driven, reactionary politics. Other films do it better, and I wish that God Bless America had gone a little further to indict the audience for cheering the mindless, senseless violenece, but the film had a suprisingly effective emotional center, and all the violence was juxtaposed with some really striking shots of the American countryside.
Unessential but enjoyable and at times thought-provoking.
