Review of God Bless America (2012) by Alex G — 23 Sep 2012
After a brilliant 20 minutes of on the head commentary about the degradation of our reality TV based society, the film loses focus and becomes a disastrous, frustrated mess. All the smart points are lost as the characters hate on the dumbest of things--like high fives and any music not by Alice Cooper--which immediately takes away on the credibility of the film's commentary and makes the leading characters seem evil and insane, rather than the intended 'open minds in a nation of ego-maniacal idiots.
' While society continues to be depicted on target, the inherently evil and unbalanced nature of the stars makes them into just another form of evil in an evil society. If this were the point, it would work.
It isn't, so it doesn't. That being said, the movie is full of golden moments and the leading actors do a superb job with the script they are given.
