Review of God Bless America (2012) by Karambir V — 17 Oct 2012
God Bless America is a movie I wanted to like, but it devolves from realist to cynical to hateful and ugly within a matter of a few moments. The film makes its point in the first 5 minutes and keeps hammering it into your head.
I started off relating to Frank, but he (and Roxy) goes on long-winded nitpicky rants about every little thing that's wrong with society when the obvious answer is to stand up and say something to these people outside in life who bug you, or turn off the TV and do something better with your time.
It gives me a bit of pleasure to see jerks who talk at the movie theater get punished, but the film's message gets lost in the monologues and needless violence.
