Review of Goal II: Living the Dream (2007) by Lizzi D — 06 Sep 2007
WATCHING THE NIGHTMARE.
If you don?t like football then stay well clear of this. In fact, unless you live, dream and breathe football you won?t have any interest in it whatsoever. I was disappointed to say the least as it manages to shit on all the good work the first had set in place. In fact it proved in my opinion to be one of the best football movies ever, up there with Escape to Victory and certainly surpassing Fever Pitch and When Saturday Comes.
Munez now finds himself playing for Real Madrid which brings all the veritable hardships that come with it. It actually makes life as a football star seem pretty crap. Any film that does that is plain out of order. I think I?ll have to go back to when he played for the Toon to regain the faith.
Funny moments include Steve Macmanaman trying to act and the amount of times Beckham takes his top off in the hope that some women may actually enjoy the film. Funny though it is it probably worked!
