Review of Goal II: Living the Dream (2007) by Lt. Kara T — 03 Jun 2008
The second film of an intended trilogy, followers of the game are likely to find the most appreciation for this fictional football film. Like the original, this blends real archival footage, simulated footage and also cameo appearances from real soccer players (Beckham, Zidane, Raul etc) to make the action sequences realistic (although I think we're all sick of the 'last minute' goal cliche).
Whereas trashy TV series like "Footballers' Wives" and "Dream Team" focus on the soap opera and unrealistic melodrama behind the scenes in the football world, this actually has a decent and realistic plot covering issues modern footballers face.
Like many other sequels however, not as good as the original.
