Review of Go West (1940) by Private U — 18 Jul 2008
"I was going to thrash him within an inch of his life, but I didn't have a tape measure.".
All the Marx Brothers films are classics in my opinion but this is one of my favourites.
The Brothers Go West to hilariously spoof Cowboy films.
It?s filled with the usual crazy action and plenty of one-liners, like the above, from Groucho.
(Although it?s a bit of a stretch to find Harpo his instrument of choice in the Wild West for the obligatory musical scene.).
You'll be crying with laughter from the beginning where Harpo & Chico attempt to fleece Groucho, to the climatic train chase scene ending.
If you love the Marx Brothers then you'll love this, if you hate them then I doubt this film will change that and if you haven't watched any yet then get watching so your celluloid education doesn't have such a gapping hole in it!
