Review of Glengarry Glen Ross (1992) by Graham L — 18 Feb 2012
This film made me feel desperate and stressed, because the story is about people fighting retrenchment against seriously unfair odds. But the acting, particularly of the legendary Jack Lemmon, was worth it.
This is like that film my generation never heard about. How often do you find an ensemble cast with Al Pacino, Kevin Spacey, Ed Harris and Lemmon? Watch it and be blown away by how intensely all of these actors embody their roles.
And that dialogue is really epic. It's not because 1000 F-words are used (which is common now anyway). They just throw shit at each other so sincerely and so intensely that it becomes fascinating to watch.
Alec Baldwin's small role here was a satisfying surprise, too. His lengthy diatribe sort of encapsulates the film. Unless you are clinically depressed, you should try to see this if watching good acting is any interest of yours.
