Review of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022) by Tommonday — 04 Dec 2022
Actor playing protagonist lacks the ability to act. Also boring to watch a character with no flaws. I saw the film with Rian Johnson actually in the cinema; the audience laughed uproariously at the movie’s other absurd, flawed, deeply human characters.
But every scene with the protagonist was dead silent – even though this biased audience was there for a post-show Q&A with Johnson. In my memory since, the picture has aged like a banana in the sun.
It’s just no fun to keep watching films interested in featuring underrepresented characters that have no interest in exploring what makes them human.
