Review of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022) by Jluis_001 — 30 Nov 2022
If a joke has already been told on other occasions and with more grace, in these cases it cannot really be said that he who laughs last laughs best, no, here the one who made you laugh first wins.
Knives Out didn't try anything new when it was released two years ago, but the film had a very strong identity, as well as a killer cast that, despite their small interventions, all left their mark.
That doesn't happen with Glass Onion, and yes, I am fully aware that everything rests on our criteria, but I felt that, in this installment neither the mystery, nor the characters had the same plot weight of its predecessor, which I found quite conflicting because no matter how hard I tried I couldn't immerse myself in the plot in the same way.
It's an entertaining film, if expectations cease in the comparisons, because Glass Onion may not be a waste, but against its predecessor, it loses out in every situation.
