Review of Gladiator (2000) by Kara F — 04 Jul 2015
Russell Crowe plays a Roman general who is betrayed by the son of the man who he could have called a father, the previous emperor of Rome. Each performance is convincing, especially that of Joaquin Phoenix, who plays that son.
His creepiness oozes throughout and makes you feel slimy for watching. Russell deserved his Oscar and so did the movie as Ridley Scott weaves a wonderful tapestry as to how Ancient Rome would have looked.
