Review of Gladiator (2000) by Toad T — 10 Mar 2013
A sort of post-modern 1950s-style Epic that, albeit with some now less-than convincing CGI, takes all the best tropes of the Epics of yore and transplants it to the modern age with great success. Ridley Scott is in fine visual form with a fantastic sense of style and of narrative.
For a director with a great deal of both hits and misses, this is undoubtedly one of his hits.
