Review of Gladiator (2000) by Ana G — 25 Dec 2014
When the movie is about to expire on Netflix, I was a bit sad and decide to watch it for the last time on Netflix, and it still entertains me. I was surprised that Doug Walker, known as the Nostalgia Critic, didn't like this film.
However, I do agree with him on these flaws, Joaquin Phoenix is acting like a cartoon character which can get a bit of some laughs, but felt out of place here. Maybe it's because I didn't watch Ben-Hur, I thought the plot of it is new to me, even though the first 20 minutes of it had been done before and I couldn't careless about.
The main problem that I definitely agree with, is that the main character is thin in characterization. The movie doesn't give me enough details of the main character which doesn't make me feel anything for him.
With that said, the battles in it are exciting to watch, it kept me interested to know what's going on, and the acting is great, besides Joaquin Phenoix. The movie does make me care about other characters, the effects are nice, and the set of it is amazing.
Even though I have a different opinion, I can understand why he doesn't like it and I can see some flaws from Gladiator.
