Review of Gladiator (2000) by Ben N — 21 Feb 2015
This film is one of a strange breed where I do not care about the main character at all but the supporting cast who set the tone, carry the story. Joaquin Phoenix is great, Connie Nielsen is great and Oliver Reed is fantastic.
I have long thought that this movie is a gold mine of quoteable quotes but they are safe to use because none of the actually fantastic lines are from the oft-quoted Russell Crowe. Overall, it could have been better, mayhaps with a different lead.
