Review of Gladiator (1992) by Jack M — 05 Jun 2014
Ridley's sword and sandal epic explores new aspects of the otherwise suffering genre. Not since Ben hur or Spartacus has this style of film made a significant impact on the industry. The grandeur of the setting is only matched by Crowe's depiction of an intense warrior trapped within the brutality of the Roman arena.
