Review of Gladiator (1992) by Dashtag M — 01 Apr 2015
"My name is Gladiator" Maximus says. Commodus: "Don't turn your back on me soldier. Tell me your name!" (Maximus releases helmet) "My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius. Father to a murdered son.
Husband to a murdered wife. Son of the true emperor..." That was one of the greatest scenes of Gladiator. Russel Crowe, and Joaquin Phoenix are the main, and best characters. Commodus played by Joaquin Phoenix, is so evil and powerful in his place that he's so good.
Crowe's performance is very deep, and also very dramatic followed by his actions. Crowe can act well in a part like this. In Gladiator, Maximus is betrayed and runs away, though visions his family being killed by the new Emperor, Commodus who murdered his own father.
It happens. He's picked up by pillagers in a Roman province that lets us know how tired, and sad Maximus is. He comes back, going to the Colosseum  and surviving attacks game planned, and also death planned.
Battle for Maximus and Commodus at the end, which is very exciting and hard to watch for Maximus. Already injured, Maximus still stands tall. Until the end as he goes o see his family in the after life.
Gladiator is a movie you DEFINITELY want to see again and again. It is very interesting, and also very haunting for our hero trapped under the enemy. Rated R.
