Review of Gladiator (1992) by Matt M — 09 Apr 2015
A Roman general seeks revenge on the greedy and jealous Roman Emperor that killed his family and made him a slave and gladiator. Ridley Scott's majestic epic takes elements of the great classics like Ben-Hur and Spartacus and updates them for the modern audience, in what became a great success which resurrected the genre's popularity.
Aided by a wonderful Hans Zimmer soundtrack, breathtaking photography and amazing performances by Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix, this film is a much loved entertaining film as well as a masterpiece of the epic genre.
