Review of Gladiator (1992) by Danny O — 25 Jul 2015
Gladiator is an intense look at Roman society. It had great action and well choreographed fights. The acting, especially from Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix is very good. They completely embody their characters as the hero and villain.
There are some very emotional scenes, and some great writing. The colosseum fights are very intense and brutal, with each fight having something memorable or clever about it. The overall story Is a very interesting one, showing the rise and fall of the Roman Empire and how one man could lead a fight against this massive force.
This man, our hero Maximus, is also given depth in that we see his struggles and want to see him succeed. Gladiator gets 5/5 stars (A+).
