Review of Girls Trip (2017) by Andrew F — 01 Aug 2017
Being one of two raunchy girls holiday comedy of the summer this out of the two I was least looking forward to seeing but was wanted to see it all the same.
Maybe beholding a much more realistic story line to the second girls holiday movie Rough Night, Girls Trip brings out all the stops to deliver a fantastically acted and truly humorous film throughout.
Taking from previous knowledge, I expected most of the laughs to come from non of than Regina Hall, but this appeared not to be the cast, with all cast members each having plentiful of laughs coming from then, even spreading from the main four to also gain humour from Colter and Walsh. But overall much to my surprise the stand out humorous performance came from Haddish and her at least to say quirky qualities.
By not taking itself over seriously, and joining with a plot line which wasn't just funny but also providing heartfelt moments several times through the movie, each of the members of the 'Flossy Possy' (the name the main four girls refer to the name of the 'crew' being called) having such a relationship with each other if someone told me they were friends in real life I would not be surprised.
Necessary comedic nudity, sexual innuendos littered throughout fulls a chunk of humour, but initially ended with very few puns falling flat.
However, on the contrary, nearing the end, moments dragged, and moments occurred where I was confident the ending had come but still there continued to be another scene, despite this, it no means ruins the film.
I was not expecting such a funny, critically successful and such a Box-Office smash to come out of movie where the dislikes on some teaser where nearly as much as the likes.
Final verdict - 7.7/10 or B+.
