Review of Girls Trip (2017) by Jen L — 21 Aug 2017
The story line is quite basic, easy to follow and predictable at times - as expected. A nice, easy watch.
The Plot - a group of 4 women in their late 30's who have been friends since college - otherwise known as the 'Flossy Posse'. Their lives have taken them down different routes but they have remained friends over the passing years. Of the four women the characters include - a single mother Lisa (played by Jada Pinkett Smith), Ryan (Regina Hall) - a successful celebrity who seems to have it all , Sasha (Queen Latifa) - a journalist who is failing at her job and Dina (Tiffany Haddish) - the wild one.
The four ladies meet up for a weekend away together at the Essence Festival. Things come to light where their relationships amongst them become strained.
The genre of Girl Trip is primarily on of comedy. However, it did make me reflect on my group of girlfriends from my uni days - we don't see each too often but we always have our friendships.
As predicted all things work out in the end.
4/5.
