Review of Girls Trip (2017) by Steve W — 24 Jan 2018
One of the funniest movies I've seen recently. It's by no means a classic movie but it hits the right notes and has a distinct charm. Tiffany Haddish steals the show as the outrageous Dina. And unlike Zach Galifinakis and Mellissa McCarthy from The Hangover and Bridesmaids respectively, she doesn't seem out of place with her friends. She's not the basket case who's brought along out of mercy. She's much more fleshed out and has pleasant demeanor once it's all said and done.
The one detractor, much like the Hangover, is that Mike Epps doesn't have a larger role in the film. He has a comedic presence that is hard to replicate and I would have liked to see him playing a larger role.
