More than anything else, The Girlfriend Experience is proof that cinematic honesty is only half the battle, and even less of the war. The film is beautifully shot and has a keen understanding of human relationships, but it doesn't add up to anything (and Sasha Grey's unyielding monotone doesn't help any, either).
