Review of Girlfight (2000) by Real G — 17 Oct 2004
I spent one day at my family's house. One day! In one day I watched four movies, well actually six but the other two are not worht mentioning!;).
Heathers.
Classic movie impossibly perfect! I love watching Christen Slater at his finest, especially considering that he has such limited screen time: seeing less of him made me want him more! I cant single out a favorite actress from the group of Heathers because they compliment each other so beautifully. I will say that the only draw back to watching this movie is that the dialogue is so "delicious" because I can't help but recite the lines as the scenes unfold.
Girlfight.
My absolute favorite movie that a woman has ever directed! I stand by this for several reasons: this is the movie I wish I had made, I would not have changed a thing, and I love the overall production. :).
The Day After Tomorrow.
Hated it! ;) Just kidding...I actually liked this the first time but my opinion of it has spoiled over time. Now that I am taking Media Arts classes I can see through this flimsy piece of Hollywood bullsh*t! I gave it a five for the SFX which on their own are enjoyable.
Underworld.
I actually hated this! I LOVE vampire movies, and I respect werewolf movies (American Werewolf in London is an example) but this movie just shat all over both genres!
The casting sucked: Scott Speedman from Felicity? Shane Brolly as Kraven head of the coven?? What was the idea, spend cheaply on actors so that more money can be put towards the SFX?!
I did love two things: appearance of werewolves (when fully transformed) and Bill Nighy (but he is wasted off too too soon!).
