The fictious story behind the famous Johannes Vermeer painting of the gril with the pearl earring.Based on the novel by Tracy Chevalier the movie portrays the daily life of the artist and the servant girl who utlimately modeled for the painting.
The movie is beautiful as a painting itself, but with somehow marginally developed characters. Even though sufficient for the story, the characters could have been elaborated upon without dulling the movie experience.
