Review of Girl with a Pearl Earring (2003) by Maria L — 11 Mar 2008
A gorgeous piece of confection. Stunning set design and costumes, rich with atmosphere, every scene is perfectly lit and appointed. So much effort went into creating the sumptuous visuals you'll wish there was more to the story - which though slight is effective; when Vermeer and Griet "accidentally" brushed hands I felt an electric shock.
Differs so little from the book I wonder what they were trying to convey by ending it as they did.
