Review of Girl with a Pearl Earring (2003) by Paul W — 03 May 2008
Although this film doesn't have much to it, what it does have is done very well. The Cinematography is quite impressive and all the actors (minus the children) play their parts perfectly. Scarlet's potential is let down by the fact that her character isn't allowed to show her emotions.
Despite a good performance, eye contact and occasional sharp intakes of breath aren't enough to really make you understand. Webber focuses a lot on eyes throughout the film, which even if you miss the emotion, you should appreciate the shot.
