Sort of Merchant Ivory on valium. The audience drag themselves from plot point to plot point through a seemingly endless succession of gorgeous stills. This film was deservedly nominated for the Art Direction, Set Design and Cinematography Oscars.

It was a million miles from being nominated for anything to do with story, acting, screenplay, or directing, also deservedly so. A movie with Scarlett Johansson and Colin Firth in it should be better than this.

All the same, definitely worth a watch if you like art or costume drama. It is, after all, visually stunning.
