Review of Girl Walks Into a Bar (2011) by Jon C — 15 Mar 2011
Strange.
It goes trough so many stories to try and develop one single narrative.
Its got a lot of great actors but there's no real emotional attachment to them since you dont get to know them real well.
You'd think it'd be about Zachary Quinto at the beginning but it's all about Carla Gugino making her way to fulfill the dark deed.
Theres some humor and some calm soft moments to make people think about how the wrold really works.
People are hard to break down: are we who we are for real, what keeps us from opening up and breaking free, is life just our memories, what are the cliches and how do we get by them, and most of all what happens in a bar for areal even if it is just one night?
Some things dont get resolved and it just decides to stop.
Its ok though, the film isn't meant to hit you in the face with too much heavyness and bashing-over-the-head morals.
Its kind of a casual comedy.
