Review of Girl Rising (2013) by Jon C — 08 Mar 2018
What does educating a girl in the modern world change...everything.
Several female celebrities narrate stories about certain women from all over the globe describing the harsh and fulfilling journeys of being educated.
So many parts of the world have women facing issues such as inequality, poverty, income, violence, hostility, and slave labor.
For most it's impossible to have the chance to have a place in this world because of the limitations placed on women's roles in society; men expect them to stay in the workforce, bear children, stay at home or not have a voice to begin with.
It's still known for a girl to be tossed aside, treated like property or even be put to death if the slightest desire to be in school is acknowledged.
But this documentary sheds light on the situation of any girl having the occasion ,the challenge and the opportunity to rise up and learn for herself.
If more are taught early then much of the issues today can be prevented from aids to sexual slavery to being silenced.
Parts of this collection of stories are tragic, heartwarming, and empowering for any girl to absorb.
There's no law that says a girl can't be taught anything less than a man and many of them should still be granted the same wish.
An eye-opening, truthful, and stirring film that fits with the current social and economic status of women today.
