Review of Girl, Interrupted (1999) by Tim D — 01 Mar 2010
Great script, great direction and great acting. Interesting that this was either the swan song or the peak of many of the careers of the actors (off the top of my head, there may be roles I'm forgetting).
Ryder has occasional roles, but nothing of substance. Jolie has mostly reverted to rather trite roles, despite her bankability. Murphy went into a steady decline. And Goldberg hasn't done anything of note since, either (The View does not count).
I quite liked the secondary cast, particularly a noticably chubby Tambor and the always wonderful Redgrave. The movie was excellently done, and the fact that it is based on real events/people (the adherence, I'm not sure of) makes it all the more poignant.
Great film.
