A BBC film? Slow, rough around the edges, but becoming increasingly interesting with every seat squirm. By the end of the movie, I "got" what was going on. Was it worth the pain? Perhaps. But the real question for an American moviegoer is: Could the same story have been told without quite the squirm? I believe so.
