Review of Gimme Shelter (1970) by John P — 13 Nov 2008
Good "fly on the wall" stuff here as we see The Rolling Stones react to their free concert at Altamont where a dude got murdered. We see them setting everything up and then performing it, but I sort of got the sense that this movie didn't really know what it wanted to be. It's part concert film, but there's only a few full performances of songs. It only covers a tiny bit of the Stones's 1969 tour, and when that murder shows up, it's only briefly touched upon. I enjoyed the performances though, and the antics during the concert are funny. If only there were more movie to go along with it. Ah well.... This shelter.... Won't fade away...
ZING! TWO STONES REFERENCES IN ONE!
