Review of Gilda (1946) by Alexa V — 03 Jul 2009
My whole life I'd heard about the wonderful Rita Hayworth, but had never seen anything with her in it. Not only is she, God, gorgeous--I'd say the prettiest movie star ever--she was a really great actress and had an incredible character in this beautiful piece of film noir.
Apparently Humphrey Bogart even turned down acting opposite of here because he knew she and the character would steal the show. And that's good for me--I hate watching women fall at ugly, alcoholic Bogie's feet.
