Review of Giant (1956) by Luis O — 13 Feb 2009
They just don't make'em like this anymore. An epic western based on the novel of the same name directed by George Stevens. This film is a love song for the state of texas and it's people and it's endearing.
The three leads all give great performances but James Dean steals the show. At 201 mins it is a bit long...but everything plays out to great effect and you can't imagine it being told any other way.
It's a love story, it's a story of growth and expansion and it's a story about a family coping with the changes of society. It's a Classic.
