Review of Giant (1956) by Jy L — 10 Apr 2010
Okay, okay...a milestone of an epic! you wanna watch an amazing film about TEXAS??? watch this GIANT FILM! rock hudson plays a great straight man, husband, and rancher. liz taylor plays the perfect wife, mother, and sidekick.
dennis hopper--yes, I said dennis hopper stars in his very first film as their son! a fabulous story about two lovebirds who create a life thru marriage, starting a family, and maintaining, operating and LIVING on a ranch.
(one of my fantasies!!!) ....geroge stevens direction is subtle and sublime. feels like you're right there, in the great room, family room, office, sittin room, and even on a horse--right there-- next to rock and liz.
if you're in the mood to dream the american dream with an incredibly healthy family (at least on screen), kick back, relax, and keep this available the next time you wanna sit on ur butt and see where that famous 501 button fly blue jeans ad came from.
enjoy!
